'School and the Magic of Children' is a follow up to Greg's hugely successful debut book 'Can I Go and Play Now'.
Discover just what it is that children need from education and why it’s so important for Early Years practice to echo upwards throughout their school journey.
‘School And The Magic of Children’ is an exploration of the very soul of childhood, leading us on an adventure into the world of Story via Drawing Club and then into a new lens to look through at play itself with the concept of Play Projects.
Both are highly impactful and creative ways to bring learning to life based on the view that children are capable, creative and need agency in their education so that they are authentic learners and we can be authentic educators.
If you are desperate and passionate for play to live and breathe in Reception and beyond, and if you truly love children and all that they are, if you believe they deserve A Gold Afternoon Fix of childhood, then ‘School And The Magic of Children’ is the book for you. It’s time for the 'Adult World' to wake from the sleepwalk and give our children something special...
Adventure Island awaits and there’s no better way of getting there than using the Adventure Island Bundle, a step-by-step immersive guide to all the joy and rich possibilities that it can bring to your setting.
The Adventure Island Bundle includes a 1.5 hour video tutorial, the Adventure Island Guidebook and a Starter Pack, all three combining to give you the confidence and understanding to undertake those first exciting steps with your team, your children and their parents.
The video tutorial has been designed for you to pause and reflect on as you watch, making it ideal for team training and in it Greg shares the pedagogy behind the concept as well as ways in which to bring Adventure Island to life in your setting. The companion 25-page Guidebook summarises the video and expands on its themes giving you a clear map of how to make the magic happen.
The Starter Pack is the final piece of the puzzle, enabling you to sketch out your own ideas for your own children, consider the skills that you will be sprinkling over Adventure Island as you explore, as well as giving you a template letter to share with parents who you will absolutely want to bring on the journey with you. Within the starter pack I've also given an example of 'breathing life' into an Adventure Island character, to show you exactly how it can be done for your setting.
Suitable for Nurseries, Reception, KS1 and dare I say it KS2!
When you buy the bundle you will receive 3 x downloadable files -
Purchasing this bundle entitles you to use Adventure Island solely in your setting, and cannot be shared or sold. Copyright for Adventure Island belongs to Can I Go and Play Now.

The Message Centre is Greg’s brainchild based around his commitment to play and children’s rightful place at the heart of their learning.
Based on the Next Steps planning approach and the Scale introduced in 'Can I Go And Play Now?', these sheets are the perfect way not only to record your children's progress but also give you and your team a clear pathway for skills progression within inputs, play and interventions.
Created in Word, these sheets can be amended or added to if you feel you want to be even more forensic. Simply record your children's names within the table and move them across as they develop the skills. The maths sheet is less linear so has a row for those who have embedded the skill and a row below for the children's names if they are still developing it. The Social Skills sheet is a condensed version of Development Matters - DM is not a ticklist after all! It enables you to see how is confident and how children are progressing in the Prime Areas without the need to take billions of observations.
It's a document that can do it all. And most importantly, it focuses on children's names rather than numbers or percentages... It's all about children after all :)
This downloadable pack has been designed to give you 12 traditional storytexts that are simple, easy to learn and have an index of possibility within them to explore wherever and however you may wish. All too often teachers are given schemes and pre-planned activity which disconnect them from their own skills growth, their inner passion and their ability to create something magic with children. If you want all the work done for you then this is not the pack for you. However, if you want a bank of traditional tales that contain catchy songs, simple language, have consistent structure from one story to the next and are short and easy to learn then these are definitely the stories for you!
The 12 stories are:
The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Jack and the Beanstalk
Little Red Hen
The Magic Porridge Pot
Little Red Riding Hood
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
The Gingerbread Man
The Three Little Pigs
Hansel & Gretel
White Hen and the Fox
The Enormous Turnip

Dinky Books are the perfect introduction to continuous provision and Early Years practice. They explore getting the most out of the learning environment and ensuring that your children are making great progress because of it.
This is a collection of 5 Dinky Books; 30 pages of making the most of play and continuous provision.
The 5 books are: Sand Play, Water Play, Getting Along, Fine Motor and Woodwork.
Each book reflects the Early Years approach from my book ‘Can I Go And Play Now?’ which, if you’ve not read it (yet), will take you on a journey to discover your own ‘why’ and how play is the greatest resource that lies before you should you just open your eyes and look.
I didn’t write the Dinky Books to tell you ‘what’ to do. They were written to tell you ‘why’ to do it. Without a clear purpose, your practice risks being empty, and you will resort to doing things across each and every day because you are either told to do it or because you think that is what Early Years practice looks like.
So, let’s enter into the world of Dinky Books and find out what on earth Early Years is, what it isn’t and above all, what it truly can become.
*This product is an instant downloadable document to print and share with your team.
